Your home is in danger.
Police have issued a mandatory evacuation order.
You can bring one small suitcase, the size of a carryon.
What three things do you bring with you?
I suspect there will be some disagreement on this, linked to age, I also suspect.
Me?
1- Important papers, such as passport, and cash.
2- Prescription medicines.
3- My dog.
If the genie granted me one more wish, I would take a pistol and ammunition.
I did not mention my cell phone because it is always with me. I did not mention my iPad, which I treasure, because I can borrow another and access everything. (I could do that from my phone, but I am not that skilled.)
What are your Top Three?
Paying attention to the evacuees in Southern California, I hear many of them would take photo albums.
A wise choice, but a wasted one. This presents the perfect opportunity for me to suggest you copy all your photographic keepsakes and load into your phone or other device. Once they are in the cloud, they are safe.
Water, food, blankets and appropriate take-alongs, assuming you are not heading for a friend’s house, or a shelter. Jewelry might prove important, along with wooden matches. An American Flag? Like the man pictured above?
How about a first aid kit, flashlights, batteries, a charger for your devices, carrying bags, rope, elastic tie downs, a whistle?
Best to plan for the worst and hope for the best.
