Welcome to Martha’s Vineyard, amigo

May I ask an impolite question? Thank you.

It is not a vacation on the Vineyard (Photo: The New York Times)

When Presidential Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre (the first Haitian-immigrant-lesbian to hold that post, in case you forgot how many Indentity boxes she checks) says that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott are “playing politics” by shipping illegals undocumented people to sanctuary cities, how is that different from the Biden Administrative shipping the same kinds of people all over the country, with no public notice as to how many are sent where and when?

The feds can ship people like UPS, but the states can’t?

Despite lying  unbelievable claims that the border is “closed,” by government officials such as Vice President Kamala Harris (a/k/a the Border Czarina who avoids it like exzuma) and Department of Hopeless Security director Alejandro Mayorkas, we know it is a sieve. The same people who denied it was a “crisis,” now try to blame Donald J. Trump for the crisis, despite that under his presidency illegal border encounters were the lowest in decades.

In Joe Biden’s first year in office, “Southwest border encounters increased to their highest recorded level in fiscal 2021. The Border Patrol reported 1,659,206 encounters with migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border last fiscal year, narrowly exceeding the prior highs of 1,643,679 in 2000 and 1,615,844 in 1986,” says Pew Research. It is higher this year.

“Their highest recorded level.” Got that, Ms. Jean-Pierre?

For some weeks, Abbott has been transferring illegals from his swamped border towns to New York, Chicago, and Washington, self-proclaimed “sanctuary cities,” that suddenly crapped themselves when the illegals started arriving by bus.

They started screaming unfair, when all Abbott was doing was testing their hospitality. (I was a little peeved at Abbott – and told him so — for failing to send any of his cargo to Philadelphia, with our jig-dancing, virtue-signaling mayor.)

Abbott was exposing progressive hypocrisy, when DeSantis raised the ante by sending a mere 50 to — guess where — Martha’s Vineyard, playground of the progressive Democratic elite. Sanctuary was easy when hundreds of thousands were on someone else’s doorstep. Less so now,

Why Martha’s Vineyard? The entire state of Massachusetts is a so-called “sanctuary,” which means local officials refuse to cooperate with ICE, an arm of the Department of Homeland Security.

Sanctuary entities call themselves “welcoming,” meaning they welcome people who come here illegally, creating mini stans of Open Borders.

Philly won’t even turn over convicted foreign felons over to ICE.

Up in the Vineyard, the “season” (summer) is over.

While it hosts 200,000 people during the summer, the year-round population is a mere 17,000.

How can they care for the 50 who volunteered for the free flight to the resort? Where will they stay? How about in the vacated homes of the rich?

For starters, let’s put a dozen in the  sprawling, $12-million waterfront mansion owned by Michelle  and Barack Obama. Waterfront? I guess they haven’t heard that “climate change” will raise the sea level by three feet sometime next year, or next century.

Caroline Kennedy wants to sell her mother’s 340-acre estate with a 6,456-square-foot main house, guest house, hunting cabin, barn, boathouse, storage building, and two garages. Let’s put 25 there.

Spike Lee’s small joint can take five.

Larry David has a 70-acre spread. He’d welcome one sexually available housekeeper.

Carly Simon will take five, as will James Taylor. It is doubtful any of their guests have heard of them.

David Letterman says no, gracious.

Everyone squared away?

  1. “Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me. They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft where we are hard, and cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand. They think, deep in their hearts, that they are better than we are because we had to discover the compensations and refuges of life for ourselves. Even when they enter deep into our world or sink below us, they still think that they are better than we are. They are different.” — F. Scott Fitzgerald

Has anyone ever said it better?

  2. You know how I feel about immigration. It should be legal. But using human beings to make a point is disgusting and inhumane. As a country we should strive to be better than this. I am aghast.

      1. With the dearth of workers in the Research Triangle we will take them. They are VERY hard workers and can do anything and take jobs Americans won’t. The builders, landscapers and restaurants couldn’t operate without them.

        1. Wanda I’m in all3 of those businesses you mentioned and yes like the Aesop fable of the dog that didn’t catch the rabbit the are great workers. Are you willing to work for a lot less?Look around at most small construction sights around town. How many native born Americans are doing the work?Funny-as I recall there were a few restaurants around town 25 years ago before the onslaught of illegals that somehow someway turned a profit.

      1. REALLY? The Feds are shipping people to places with absolutely no arrangements for food or shelter? No notice to the authorities of those locations? Lying to the migrants about where and why they are going to these random places? Dropping them at the Private HOMES of their political rivals? Since TFG’s policies were so successful, perhaps we should return to separating families (many who STILL have not been reunited , never will be…)….. WHEW! I’ve disagreed with you many times, but always respected your ability to be humane, and FACTUAL. Not so here. Not even close.

        1. Find me the stats of how many illegals the feds have shipped to what cities and when.
I cannot find any data in this. Why is it a secret? Do they fear a revolution?
The principle of moving them around is the same, whether the feds or the states.

          1. I’m not the one who stated that DeSatan’s and Abbott’s machinations are the same as the Feds….. YOU are. I asked questions about your premise, assuming YOU have some information on this bizarro world comparison.

          2. Not the same, equivalent. Why is it you show NO curiosity about how many people, from what nations, have been shipped to what cities, in what numbers?
Or do you believe the border is closed (by allowing in almost 2 million a year?)

          3. HAPPY MONDAY !!!
            Stu,
I do know that Erie, PA was one of the first to receive a ‘late night’ flight, followed later by a second.
The mayor requested them ( illegals ) and WE ARE PAYING FOR THEM !
Before Naomi or anyone flys off half cocked, The ‘slight of hand’ allowing them to come into our country ILLEGALLY and go hide does not bode well for OUR nation.
BTW, at each airport or bus stop, the illegals are met by do gooders that open up their hearts – not their houses for these weary travelers.
            Tony

    1. Why does your opinion not include the SOUTHERN BORDER which is a disgrace using many as drug smugglers. If you have an ounce of intelligence think about what would happen if half the world came here. The country is falling apart wake up.

  3. Anyone commenting on the odious use of these HUMAN BEINGS on this post would do exactly what they did in leaving their violent and failed states for a better life.

      1. Stop using logic, Stu! Stop using facts, Stu! The use of logic and facts against those who FEEL, who have COMPASSION, is unfair. (Of course, as Martha’s Vineyard has shown, FEELINGS and COMPASSION count only when it doesn’t involve residents’ neighborhoods).

  4. You can call Stu’s message on the point, dark humor, or the phrase: “As you sow, so shall you reap.” As to filling American jobs, I have no problem but only once vented to see if they can work and enter the country Legally. How many countries that seek our demise look at the open border and visualize what they could do if the available policy continues? And in the spirit of giving, I am sure the next meeting of the Martha’s Vineyard Commission at the Edgartown country club will find some vacant property to house and feed the illegal immigrants until Biden moves them to a middle-class section of the country.

  5. When the Vice President makes an inaccurate and misleading statement such as “our borders are secure” and the media fails to call her out. Then the “political stunt” is also a public service.

We have a crisis at the border that needs to be solved, we need to leaders to solve it not people with titles to lie or mischaracterize it.
Stop the lies, the voters are not that stupid.

    1. It’s too late. The terrorists are here and embedded. They only await the order to kill and maim as many Americans as possible. And they walked into the USA through the southern sieve that used to be a border.

      1. I am assuming, the references in your post are your thoughts.

What is lost in the border arguments is the fact that not securing our borders has created a humanitarian crisis along with cover for criminal enterprises.

Both sides play politics with this issue and neither are brave enough to solve it.

The wall (an idea I despise) is clearly needed at our border.

No one should criticize the people or politicians in our border states for attempting to safeguard their communities. Simple facts..

  6. HAPPY FRIDAY !!!
    Yo Pallie !
Back from your travels. Well rested, plenty of therapy and it’s time to feed the blog.
It’s always entertaining to hear people speak on any subject. Most don’t know the topic well enough and one or two will twist everything to suit themselves.
Show of hands. How many of you have worked out of the country ( put your hand down Vince )
How many of you have lived in another country and not on an extended vacation ( keep your hand down Vince )
I would suggest to you all, to read up on the subject. The USA is very lenient compared to many countries. Extremely lenient when it comes to ignoring immigration laws. Most countries won’t hesitate to lock you up when you ignore their laws.
I admire Governors Abbot and DeSantis. The states along the border have been taking it on the chin for ? how many years ? and the liberals shout back, ‘not in my back yard’.
My wife was employed at a major law firm back in the ’80s & ’90s. She would not work in the immigration department because their purpose was to find the loophole to get their client permission to bring in cheap labor. I’m referring to ‘research triangle’ and other engineering fields. Those degreed from Asia would come here and work for a third less than what an American would work for. It doesn’t matter that many of those degrees didn’t measure up to our degrees.
The company wanted cheap trainable labor and they got it. ( that is an example as to why OUR manufacturers build overseas )
I will also say that for the most part, we do not take advantage of illegal immigrants other than cheap labor. I have seen where they are abused by their own in the name of the almighty yen, ruble sheckle or whatever !
Our problem is many. For years we would throw money at these third world countries KNOWING that the money stayed at the top. As I said before, P.R. ( ours ) the Dominican Republic are two long term examples of slush funds. All of South America is the same. We never really questioned where our money went or how it was used. UNTIL TRUMP ! Had we been helping the world to build better, we would not be in this mess !
once again: DRAIN THE SWAMP ! and VOTE THEM ALL OUT !
    Tony

  7. Ok, so we love to over-simply everything here. If you really care about this issue, instead of posting three sentence platitudes or bullshit responses, consider reading an extensive analysis of this issue, why it is occurring, who caused it, and whether it is really any different today than it was two years ago, four years ago, six years ago, or 10 years ago. This was published at the beginning of 2022, so it is fairly timely. Read this and get back to me. And consider that the border situation ONLY seems to become a crisis during election cycles, when Republicans use it to stir up fear. https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/rising-border-encounters-in-2021

    1. HAPPY FRIDAY to ALL !
as usual, f is leaning so far left that he’s about to fall over.
#1 ) go read ‘who we are’
#2) the first paragraph tells you how much they love our joey and hate Trump.
#3) as you read through their selected decisions on immigration, I would invite them and YOU to open YOUR doors
      to these illegals.
I would invite all to re-read my reply. Actually look up our immigration laws and just because, google the United Kingdom. See how their laws on immigration differ from those of the USA. For added fun, take a look at Asia or anywhere in Europe.
As I said many times before. Follow the rules and the immigration laws. Come THROUGH the front door – NOT UNDER IT !
      T

      1. Guess where you can place your “leaning so far left” comment, “pallie”? The information in that article is neither left or right. It is factual. Nowhere in my post did I say anything about my personal position on illegal immigration in this country or any other. So I suggest you stop making assumptions, “pallie”.

And if you are referring to my comment about Republicans stirring up fear, it’s because that’s ALL THEY EVER DO. Have they offered a single solution to this or any other problem? Nope. And they won’t because they don’t have any. They simply try to scare people like YOU (hint: it’s working). For instance, where is Trump’s healthcare plan? Oh, I know: he’ll have it for you in two weeks. Did Trump or did Trump not downplay the COVID virus in the early stages even though he KNEW that was an outright lie? He sure did. I could go on and on and on and on with FACTS and LIES that are documented. The fact that you are unable to see Trump for the lying, criminal sack of sh!t he has ALWAYS been is quite disturbing, and it makes me wonder about your ability to reason correctly. Actually, I don’t really wonder. At this late juncture, ANYONE who supports that complete idiot is clearly either ignorant or evil. Pick one for yourself. Trump is NOT a political issue of left vs right. That is a topic for legitimate debate. Trump is an issue of right vs wrong. And guess which side YOU are on, “pallie”?

Here’s a new sign-off for you instead of your inane “drain the swamp”:
DRAIN THE COUNTRY OF STUPID BEFORE YOU DESTROY DEMOCRACY!!!!

        1. dear NOT pallie,
All you and your cronies do is fight. You had to be the target at recess in your younger years, ’cause you try to fight now. ( hint: when making a fist, thumb goes ‘outside’ of the folded hand, not inside )
f, you are left. That outfit is left. Maybe you need help translating or a dictionary. Everything that you say and do just feeds the fire of hate. All you have is hate. A shame. To be so blinded by hate that you can’t see the truth, no matter who is the speaker. Of course, if you follow ‘let ’em loose larry’ and his maker, soros, ya just gotta love the 4 winners in congress coupled with pelosie and schumer. ( No capitals – no respect for the dims )
Do everybody a favor. You and your cronies. Keep your comments to yourself. We won’t be offended if you don’t try to insult us any further.
          Tony

    2. The link proves figures don’t lie but liars can figure.
Ignore all “it started a long time ago” verbiage and concentrate on one KEY fact — encounters/apprehensions etc. were at a decades LOW before Biden and are at an all-time HIGH after Biden.
      End of discussion.

  8. bogart
I know that you’re not talking to me. I TOLD you to keep your opinions away from me. I don’t want to get infected and – worse case being worse – become a dImocrat
DRAIN THE SWAMP ! and VOTE THEM ALL OUT !
    TONY

    1. tony clark sr, you need to get back to reality. If you think I will take orders from you, a delusional supporter of that orange-skinned SOB. you are living in fairy-tale land.

      1. to the unknown person masquerading as Humphrey Bogart,
he ‘orange-skinned SOB’ as you call OUR President Trump, did more for OUR country than joey ever will. Trump was on his own. The SWAMP was against him then AND now !
Here’s a sad joke (reality check ). Do any of you Trump haters think that joey or any other swamp dwellers could take half of the avuse that Trump has taken ? Do any of you dims think that your swamp dwellers could withstand – and pass- the tests thrown at President Trump ?
Just how thick headed are you people ? You hate the man that tried to save the country from the enemy within. Instead, reaping what you sow, we all ( THANKS ) have huge inflation problems that have not peaked. If we don’t get our heads out of our butts real soon, you are going to see Europe fall even deeper into the inflation hole. Their only recourse will be to kiss Russia’s butt and buy their fuel. That would rejuvenate Russia’s economy which in turn will fuel their war effort which will cause the demise of the country now known as Ukraine.
No ‘bogie”, I’m not giving orders to anyone. I am trying to reach everyone out there in a civilized manner. It’s called a conversation. It takes place where people calmly discuss one topic then move onto another topic. There is no loud voiced, no interruptions, no cursing and no disrespect. Hmmmmmmmmmm
        Anthony Clark, Sr.
        AKA Tony

        1. tony, you said:
“𝙉𝙤 ‘𝙗𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙚”, 𝙄’𝙢 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚.”

However, previously in this thread you said to Freeze:
          “𝙆𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛.”

Also, in this thread you said to me:
“𝙄 𝙏𝙊𝙇𝘿 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙢𝙚.”

It sure sounds like you are giviing orders to people.

tony, I have said it before and I will say it again. You are pathetic. You tell so many lies you do not remember, from one thread to the next what you said. Now, it appears, you do not even know what you have said in posts you have written within the same thread.

          1. hey what’s name,
grow up. Try telling us how great our leader is now. Try telling us how much better off we are, now that our dollar is devalued again and our money is worth about 4% less than ‘orange man’ was in office
Here is an order. Grow up little boy. Your not back in grade school where, no doubt, the school yard bully used to work out on you every day. Now you think you can be the bully. HA !
my name is Anthony Clark, Sr. and I’m proud of it !

        2. Replying to your post of September 17, 2022 at 10:34 am.

tony, do you remember anything you say? You said almost the same thing to Freeze in this thread. In my opinion you really do need to seek help.

By the way… President Biden is much, much better than the lying, conniving, bigoted, orange-skinned SOB whom you so greatly admire.
