The Left awakening to immigrant crisis?

As most of you know, I am very much for legal immigration, and very much against illegal immigration. Why? Because it is illegal, it breaks our laws and makes it harder for legal immigrants.

I was very much surprised to hear former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough say the same thing,

Surprised because MSNBC took the knee-jerk Left position of saying (until recently) there was no crisis at the border, and illegal immigration was good for the country anyway.

We have the “rule of law,” Scarborough said in reference to the massive invasion at the southern border, and we can’t believe in the law just when it agrees with our ideology.

He sounds like me.

Another surprise was Morning Joe regular contributor Mike Barnicle, who in 1998 got fired by the Boston Globe  for plagiarizing George Carlin and then lying about it. MSNBC had no problem with hiring a liar.

Anyway, Barnicle on Monday described what’s happening at the southern border as “a riot on foot.” He added, “These people have not been invited.” The administration must admit how deep the problem is, he said.

I checked the channel. For a minute I thought I was tuned to Fox News. If progressives are admitting the problem, we may have an opportunity to solve it. Fingers crossed.

The day before, New York Mayor Eric Adams was bleating that his Sanctuary City was running out of funds to accommodate the illegals immigrants. That’s what he gets for his virtue signaling about being a “welcoming” city to all, including those here illegally.

In concluding his remarks, Scarborough engaged in some political dishonesty.

“In Barack Obama’s last year as president of the United States, illegal border crossings were at a 50-year low.”

Then, self-righteously, the one-time Republican added, “Put that in your talking points, Republicans.”

Here’s what Republicans can put in their talking points: Illegal border crossings were at a 50-year low under Obama, and then they went even lower under President Donald J. Trump.

Is it possible Scarborough didn’t know that?

Or was he just being a partisan shill?

And, he could have added, they are now at record highs, under Joe Biden.

  1. I want to know why the media has ignored this issue the last to years. Plus you would think Biden was the greatest president who ever lived as they ignore all his other blunders.

  2. HAPPY TUESDAY !!!
    pallie,
Sorry to say buddy, you’re preaching to the choir. We who agree with you have done so from the beginning. Those that have disagreed are either slow to admit the fault or are just far gone ( LEFT ) !
I’m sure that you recall me – more than once – quoting sections of the immigration laws in this blog. Specifically, the crime of aiding illegals and employing them . We all know why this is taking place and we know how to stop the problem.
Nothing much will change until we change the people in charge.
    Tony

  3. The insanity is the thinking that this is a Left-Right problem (e.g., “Trump did better with this problem than Obama, etc.”). Wake up, people: THIS IS A UNITED STATES PROBLEM. Our nation is being invaded and we’re making it a political problem!

      1. Precisely my point, Stu: the idiots on both sides are MAKING it a political problem, when in reality it is an invasion.

  4. One) I think Scarborough is looking for some credibility. And I don’t believe he believes his position on the border. If he does I will never understand why. That goes for anyone who believes in illegal immigration.

Two) Everything is political today. And it’s sure as hell working for the democrats. And then there’s the rest of the media, only recently has channels 3, 6 and 10 made it a lead.

Reporting had to change in this Age of Trump to protect the guilty.

    1. And yet I have been writing about illegal immigration in the Daily News and then the Inquirer for 20 years. But, yes, it has been underreported, largely because the editors’ progressive goggles did not allow them to see this as a atory, as with the Hunter lap top.
But that’s story selection. Most news stories are objective and factual.
