Putin starts his war

It’s around midnight and war has begun in Eastern Europe.

It is Russian President’s Vladimir Putin’s war, pure and simple. The early hours were reported by AP.https://apnews.com/article/626a8c5ec22217bacb24ece60fac4fe1

Russia has marched into a neighbor, something we have not seen since the prelude to World War II.

Actually, we saw it after World War II, when Russia took over Eastern Europe, moved into Georgia in 2008 and took Crimea in 2014.

Putin talks of “aggression” on the part of Ukraine, which is laughable.

Russia has threatened Ukraine with dire consequences if it resists, and has also threatened the U.S. and NATO to stay away.

The U.S. has said it will support Ukraine in many ways, but not with troops in Ukraine, despite what you have heard from Tucker Carlson.

As this unnecessary war opens, the question is how long and how well Ukraine can resist, and at what cost.

Every life, every drop of blood is on Putin’s hands.

  1. This action by Russia has so many parallels to the start of WWII that it is frightening, including that Hitler had his own supporters in the U.S. at the time, as Putin does now. My prediction is that this is only the beginning for the autocrat that mourns the the demise of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century. I think it’s clear where his ambitions lie.

    1. Tucker Carlson says the unmistakeable parallel you see is tantamount to calling Russia, which suffered greatly from the Nazis, Nazis themselves.
      If the shoe fits…

  2. HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!!
    pallie,
Oh, for a crystal ball. We have a huge mess here in the United States. Fourteen months of the start of our decay. The whole world is still reeling from covid and is still lingering in the disease. And now we finally have Putin being the mad dictator that we all knew was there.
Can the United Nations actually take a stand ? Can the European countries unite to stop this war monger ? Can we, as Americans, take a unified stand against the tyrant Putin. We either stop him now with hard embargoes, tariffs and anything else that we can use, or be ready to stand and fight.
    Tony

    1. The U.S. is acting despite a deluded Fifth Column here, headed by the likes of Tucker Carlson. More of that later. The sanctions must be REALLY powerful.
And, yes, it will hurt the average Russian more than Putin. But it must be done.

  3. The Russian people have had a taste of freedom and availability of everyday goods we take for granted. It will be interesting to see how they react to the noose-tightening from Putin and the ‘new and better’ communist government to follow. The genie is out of the bottle, can it be put back without civil war?

  4. I do not know if the following is true but here it is;

An audio clip has emerged of what appears to be an exchange between Ukrainian soldiers on an island in the Black Sea and an officer of the Russian Navy.

All the soldiers — who were defending Snake Island — are reported to have been killed, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the purported audio exchange, the Russian officer says: “This is a military warship. This is a Russian military warship. I suggest you lay down your weapons and surrender to avoid bloodshed and needless casualties. Otherwise, you will be bombed.”
The alleged response from a Ukrainian soldier: “Russian warship, go f*** yourself.”

I want to add the following. If anyone who is reading and or watching what pukein is doing and agrees with it (I have a sneaking suspicion some here do), GO FUCK YOURSELF! This goes for puken and his cronies as well. I honestly hope someone kills that Son-of-a-Bitch.

    1. I heard the “F” report, which mirrors the famous “Nuts” uttered at Bastogne by Gen. Anthony McAulliffe, commander of the 101st Airborne, when asked by Germans to surrender.
Post-war it was reported the “nuts” was a cleaned up version that could be reported to the public.

      1. Thank you for bringing that up Stu. It seems somewhat familiar but I do not really remember reading about it.
