Ladies & Gentlemen: You are embarrassing yourselves

As you know, I enjoy spirited debate, and even creative name-calling.

The election is over. Trump won. Biden and Harris (and Stu) say we will survive this.

The level of acrimony is actually keeping other people from commenting. “What kind of friends do you have?” I have been asked more than once. “Well,” I reply, “they are not my friends. They are my readers.”

Some of YOU have asked me to shut others up. I declined. I will only act if comments are libelous, actually physically threatening, or attacking someone’s race, religion, ethnicity, gender, etc. (I do NOT read every comment and response.)

I will ask you, without threat of banishment, to turn it down a notch or two. Turn the page, so to speak. 😇

And do look for my next column, on mass deportations, Saturday morning. Thank you.

  1. Trump won the people have spoken. But there are people here that won’t give him chance. Even you admit the many successful polices of Trump first term. But there are people here that are so full of hate that they won’t concede that he did a lot of good for the country. And he will continue to do great things because he puts Americans first. The Biden administration tried to destroy the country. Name one thing that benefited the American people. How can you be civil with people who want to destroy are whey of life.

      1. I think anyone who voted for Harris has TDS. She was a disaster. And the people put their hate for Trump over the country. Why would anyone with common sense want another 4 years of bad government. Thank god people realized their mistake and elected Trump.

    1. World’s best economy, lowest unemployment level in 50 years, still around 4%. Record stock market highs, wages are up, infrastructure is being repaired/built. U.S. economy pulling the world out of its post-CIVID slump. Inflation is slowing diwn.
Trump’s plan is derided by most economists. Massive tax cuts combined with large import tariffs will jack up the deficit and cause inflation to rise.
Since you are an economics illiterate, don’t bother asking.

  2. The economy and deporting illegals were important to the majority of voters. This is something the democratic candidate didn’t talk about. Bob Brady was on the radio today and admitted the republican candidates spoke often about the economy and it worked. Tuesday at the polls I was approached by a good amount of friends and neighbors who were democrats that were there to vote for the republican ticket. I believe the next 4 years will be better than the last 4 years. Prayers for our country and prayers for President Donald Trump.

  3. It’s not important for Democrats to ask “How could they vote for him?” The more important question to ask moving forward is “Why did they vote for him?” In 2012 Republicans got the rear ends handed to them with Obama’s reelection and a Democratic blitz in Congress. They then got together to examine why this happened and corrected it. Democrats will do the same.

  4. Stu,
I enjoy reading your posts because they are always a fast ball down the middle, what is the point of reading someone who you are always going to agree with. People get passionate about something that have little control over with. While the democrats are looking to blame for the loss. It’s really simple President Trump is really good at beating women candidates.
So for the next two years take Doris Day’s advice “ Que Sera, Sera.
    Thank you again,

    1. Evidently the democrats believed the two female candidates they chose were the best of the best to square up against President Trump. Blame the democratic party not the republicans.

  5. Stu, Thanks for pointing out the facts, and for seeing things the way many reasonable folks see them . A spade is a spade.
Also ,tonight, for reminding us that being civil and rising above grammar school spitballs is a better way to go.

Many of your long time commenters establish cogent points – on both sides, and they have helped make your read intriguing.Of late,we have seen too much name calling, limp characterizations of politicians ( perhaps quaint at first) ,gratuitous F -bombs and a level of B.S. that your hard work and insight do not deserve.
I am not here to give Stu an atta boy. He doesn’t need it.
    But, C’mon.
Hey, I ( & the guys I grew up with)can get into it with the best ;but we keep the type of nonsense we’ve seen for face to face.
BTW, my real name is what you see.

  6. Thank you for pouring oil on troubled waters. Snip off the extremists of both parties and you will find the vast middle to be Americans who may disagree but are able to live together in relative harmony.

  7. Stu, your words, if we listen, are the appropriate Rx to cure our country’s current ailments.
