Dems embarrass themselves with judicial endorsement
Page says he’s a good attorney, and maybe he is. Let his clients pay for his services. There’s no reason for the public to pay him a $220,000 salary with his dog-crap resume.

Some days it’s harder than others to not be embarrassed to be a Philadelphia Democrat.
Today is one of those days. Not for me, as I have always described myself as a “disloyal Democrat.”
Disloyal to a system by which ward leaders have just endorsed a man for a judgeship who was “not recommended” by the Philadelphia Bar Association, and who received a rare public reprimand from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s disciplinary board.
He has also been subject, according to the Inquirer, to a “series of liens for about $200,000 in unpaid federal income taxes and penalties.”
Now endorsed for Municipal Court by the Democratic City Committee, to all this Shawn Page says, “I’m an everyday guy. I have everyday issues. . . I don’t present to the people. . . as a saint.”
The man has a gift for understatement.
Page says he’s a good attorney, and maybe he is. Let his clients pay for his services. There’s no reason for the public to pay him a $220,000 salary with his dog-crap resume. Other than for him having been a loyal spear carrier in the Dem ranks, providing free legal services.
Maybe one hand washes the other in life, but it’s not good governance.
This has nothing to do with Mayor Cherelle Parker, but regular readers recall when she hired a failed state rep with mental issues, after hiring three convicted former public servants who got caught with their mitts in the cookie jar. Or down their pants.
I described it as the Parker Picks Hiring Agency. Kind of a last resort for damaged Dems.
And Philadelphia taxpayers get the bill.
